👑🎶 Post-Disney-Channel: Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus

Come closer, Disney Channel kids: When did Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus touch our hearts the most? What feminist curator Derya Sayın is a fan of? What's going on with the popular culture?

Come closer, Disney Channel kids! 🪄 Today we take over that magic wand and illustrate the mouse ears on the screen ourselves. I'm observing that we are transitioning from watching Hannah Montana episodes while waiting in front of the screen for High School Musical 2 to come out to adult life. How wonderful! Now it's time to talk about what we've learned through the show, or what we say "I wish we hadn't learned this, see, Miley's tired of all that stuff too."

🎤🎶 Disney Channel's heartfelt "product"s: We met Britney Spears (the ultimate princess of pop) with the Mickey Mouse Club and Miley Cyrus with Hannah Montana—these are the poets who came into our lives. Disney's neoliberal world approved of them, then popular culture hit, and as they found their way, Disney Channel said, "These people are not suitable for children. Let's judge each and everything they ever did!"

🦸‍♀️ This week on StanFanon, as you know it, loves the institution of fanhood wholeheartedly. In the column, feminist curator Derya Sayın summarizes our manifesto with her answers to the questions:

I can say that popular culture (regardless of the time period) has a direct influence on art and social structures. Currently, I take great care to analyse an artwork through a feminist and diverse perspective, which I think is a habit I developed during the process of dissecting popular culture in the first place.
