Cansın Gelişli

Pharmacist Cansın Gelişli works on scent and sensory experiences. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gazi University. When she began her master’s studies in phytotherapy, her curiosity about the relationship between plants, scent and people led her to aromatherapy. With the intention of researching, making and growing by sharing, she changed her life from the ground up and set out on this path. Since 2019 she has worked in R&D and product development at Homemade Aromaterapi. Today she researches and experiments where natural scent meets gastronomy, creating experiences that tell stories through scent. Alongside this, she runs workshops with essential oils and aromatherapy that focus on the balance of spirit, body and mind. She loves bringing science together with the intriguing world of scent.

Why does an apple not taste like an apple when you have a cold, and can a white wine dyed red be perceived as a red? Flavour is not the tongue’s job alone. Shaped where smell, sight and the sensations in our mouth meet, this experience affects many things, from how we recognise a food to whether we come to love it.
