Melike Bayık
Independent curator, art writer and academic. She works on public space, urban justice, imece (the tradition of communal work), social equality, sustainability, and participatory art ecosystems built on solidarity. A member of AICA Türkiye, CIMAM and ICOM, she focuses on research-based projects that examine socio-cultural and social dynamics. She teaches in the Arts and Cultural Management Programme at Yeditepe University. Since 2018 she has been the founding advisor of Eldem Sanat Alanı (Eldem Art Space), and since 2020 the art advisor and collection manager of the Hitay Vakfı ve Koleksiyonu (Hitay Foundation and Collection). Mindful of the importance of academic research in her curatorial projects, she has organised talk and seminar programmes and developed educational activities by designing children’s workshops for different age groups. She continues her academic, curatorial and writing work in Istanbul.
