• Iceland green-lit the construction of the world's biggest carbon capture plant, which is expected to become operational in two years. Being built by Swiss start-up Climeworks, the new ‘Mammoth’ plant will have the capacity to suck 36,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from the air, to be chemically turned into rock and deposited underground by Icelandic carbon storage firm Carbfix.
