The results come at a time when the scandal-ridden industrial conglomerate is assessing a buyout proposal from a consortium led by private equity firm Japan Industrial Partners.

• Russia’s Lukoil continues negotiations with Crossbridge Energy Partners on a buyout of its Sicily refinery. The talks started earlier this year and paused in October. A deal between Lukoil and the US private equity group would value the refinery at €1-1.5 billion, but the buyer has to assure Italy that it will not cut jobs or harm the region with a restructuring. via FT

• Credit Suisse confirmed that it was selling much of its securitized products group to private equity group Apollo, as part of a larger restructuring. The Swiss bank profited from The New York-based securitized products business, which also resulted in large capital spending. The changes will cause 9,000 job cuts from the bank’s 52,000 staff over the next three years. via FT

• Lufthansa is in talks to sell the remaining part of its airline catering unit to German private equity firm Aurelius, according to Bloomberg sources, and could announce a deal for the LSG Sky Chefs business in the coming weeks. Germany’s flagship airline has been trying to sell off its catering operations for years as short-haul flying outpaces longer routes.

• European private equity Investindustrial is buying a controlling stake in Eataly, the Italian luxury food and drink group, with plans to further expand the business around the world. The investment firm said on Wednesday that it would acquire 52% of the company for €200 million, with the rest remaining in the hands of current investors including the Farinetti family which founded Eataly in 2007.

• Shawbrook’s private equity owners have shelved a plan to sell the UK challenger bank after their hopes of attracting bids worth about £2 billion failed to materialize due to inflation fears and political uncertainty, Financial Times sources have said. BC Partners and Pollen Street Capital, which bought the lender in 2017, had held talks this year with potential acquirers.

• British financial news company Euromoney accepted a takeover bid of around $2 billion from private equity groups Astorg and Epiris, a rare take-private deal amidst economic uncertainty. If accepted by shareholders, the deal will see the business split into two, with Astorg taking Euromoney’s price reporting division and Epiris taking the rest.

• Deutsche Telekom has agreed to sell 51% of its GD Towers unit to a consortium of US private equity firm DigitalBridge and Canada's Brookfield for €17.5 billion. Proceeds of €10.7 billion will reportedly help Deutsche Telekom cut its debt as the company works toward acquiring a majority share in its US subsidiary T-Mobile.

• Euromoney , a London-based business and financial information company, announced that it considers a £1.6 billion (€1.86bn) takeover offer by Luxembourg-based private equity manager Astorg and British firm Epiris. The £14.61 (€17) per share cash offer came after four earlier offers from the private equity consortium.
