Schneider already owns 60% of the UK software developer, and offered to buy the remaining 40% of the shares for £9.5 billion. Peter Lampert, a top-five investor, said the offer price is “an opportunistic bid taking advantage of share price weakness in recent months,” and does not match Aveva’s long-term potential.

• Schneider Electric agreed to buy out the UK software developer Aveva in a deal valued at £9.5 billion. The French industrial conglomerate already owns 60% of Aveva and will strip the London market of one of its last few remaining large tech groups by buying the remaining shares. Aveva, one of Britain’s oldest technology companies, was founded in the 1960s and focuses on the energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors.
