• Volkswagen subsidiary Cariad and Bosch will work together to develop software for automated driving in Volkswagen vehicles, the two companies announced in a joint statement. This is the second official partnership this year by the companies, who last week announced they would set up a joint venture to equip battery cell factories with machinery.

• German carmakers have criticized a new act by US president Joe Biden that will subsidize EV purchases up to a maximum of $12,500 (€11k) in tax credits, for being anti-competitive. The Build Back Better bill, which awaits Senate approval, will offer subsidies up to $4,500 only to cars made in the US by a manufacturer with a unionized workforce, with a further $500 subsidy to cars with a US-made battery.
