The place in question between these roads was once a Victorian water-filtering facility, then a Thames Water lorry park, now a big grey blob. A petition is going around for the East London Waterworks Park campaign to buy the side and return to the public as two olympic-size, naturally-filtered swimming areas as well as walking routes between Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes.
