• The EU will soon make it mandatory for tech companies to detect and remove content relating to child abuse on their platforms, Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson said. Why it matters: Big Tech companies such as Facebook and Google currently do not have to follow up on child abuse reports on their platforms, and Johansson’s legislation aims to make sure that the companies will “detect, report, and remove child sexual abuse.”
