• The EU unveiled a tougher industry Code of Practice for tackling online disinformation. 34 companies and organizations including Google, Meta, Microsoft, TikTok, Twitch and Twitter have made commitments to undertake specific measures to address concerns, such as demonetizing disinformation purveyors, tackling bots and deepfakes, and creating transparency centers.

• The International Fact-Checking Network has called on Youtube to address what they say is “rampant misinformation” on the Google-owned video platform. The group called the platform “one of the major conduits of online disinformation and misinformation worldwide,” and accused the platform of insufficient efforts particularly in non-English speaking countries and the global south.
