• EU’s Earth observation program Copernicus warned that parts of the EU may face three more months of warmer and drier conditions as the bloc has already been dealing with a major drought that has caused forest fires, river dry-ups, and crop devastation. Almost half of the 27-nation bloc is under drought warning, which has also hit the energy sector, depriving hydroelectric and other power plants of their prime source of energy and cooling liquid.
