- Behind the scenes: The web3 company raised $320 million by selling a total of 55,000 Otherdeeds —NFTs that represent virtual plots of land in its upcoming metaverse project, The Otherside— at a flat price of 305 ApeCoins (around $5,800 at the time of purchase) in the "largest NFT mint in history," causing gas fees to skyrocket to up to 5 ETH ($14,000) per transaction, meaning in some cases the gas fees cost twice as much or more as the price of the virtual land deeds.
