How would you complete the sentence: “I am a fan of…” What were the universes you were a fan of during your childhood?Hmm, interesting question! I can’t fully remember if I created any “universes” but I definitely treated my life as a musical when I was young. During my youth, Disney Channel was at its best—I think—with shows like High School Musical, Camp Rock, and Hannah Montana.&nbsp;All of those shows revolved around a fun, colorful, “spontaneously breaking into song” kind of universes. Of course, in real life, that doesn’t really exist. We’d need a couple hours of rehearsals to create that! However, as a child, I loved the idea of suddenly breaking into a song and I always wishes that my life could be like that. It was more of a fictional recreation of 4 different types of “Selin reactions” to a situation that I wanted to portray—in an alternate world.&nbsp;I feel like we all have different versions of ourselves that we can be, or wish we could be more often. So I wanted to create a video where I could freely be all of them, and it felt good, haha! For Gidip Gel, the main concept was to illustrate and reflect a constant movement and chaos going on, so through the cars, the jumping around and dancing on water was all apart of the artistic vision to represent that.&nbsp;<img src="https://images.aposto.com/2022/10/2/1667314695567.png" width="550" tabindex="0" style="width: 100%; max-width: 550px; vertical-align: middle; border-style: none; position: relative; cursor: pointer; padding: 0px 1px; box-sizing: border-box;" ratio="1.42" fr-original-style="width: 100%; max-width: 550px;" fr-original-class="fr-draggable">🎂 Cool by Selin<hr fr-original-style="" style="height: 0px; overflow: visible; border-bottom-style: none; clear: both; -webkit-user-select: none; break-after: page; box-sizing: border-box;">Cool, on the other hand, was all based on a true story. So I wanted to make sure to portray that with aesthetically pleasing visuals. We took a lot of inspiration from Wes Anderson’s color palettes and stills.&nbsp;I also wanted to showcase a bit more of a dancing sequel in it, which of course Britney Spears and Madonna did iconically back in the day. I also wanted to tell a story through different types of “Selins”—so I guess I took inspiration from many artists (too many to list) but Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry do this very well, haha! The cake part was by far my favorite scene.
