• Israel’s parliament voted to dissolve itself on Thursday, paving the way for the fifth election in three years. The now collapsed government consisted of an unlikely coalition, featuring centrists, right-wingers, left-wingers, and even Islamists; which hit a gridlock after only one year into its existence. • French President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance is at risk of losing its outright majority in the National Assembly, in an election where less than half of voters cast ballots. NUPES, an unexpected left-wing coalition led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, is neck and neck with Macron’s alliance, both polling around 25-26%. According to projections, Macron’s Ensemble! will collect 255-295 MPs, possibly missing the 289 MP threshold needed for an absolute majority.

• Bulgaria’s two-month-old centrist anti-graft We Continue to Change Party will start coalition talks after their surprise victory in the country's third national election this year. A functioning cabinet needs to be formed to tackle the country’s long-lasting corruption problems as well as to be eligible for an EU financial aid package worth billions of euros.
