Germany asked for Turkish assistance in deporting Turkish citizens staying illegally in the country.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Furthermore:&nbsp;Scholz praised Turkey's acceptance of refugees and said said: "We will support Turkey regarding the consequences of the war in Syria." Erdoğan, in turn, said: "Our doors have always been open to refugees coming from Syria, it will continue to be so. Also to people from Lebanon fleeing the current war."</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Important note:&nbsp;Erdoğan and Scholz publicly and openly disagreed on Israel as the Turkish President called Israeli attacks "genocidal" and Scholz saying that the term does not apply, adding that Israel had a right to self-defense.</li></ul>
