• Dating app Bumble completed its first acquisition , buying French dating app Fruitz in a deal that was kept private, in an attempt to obtain a larger presence among European Gen Z users. Zoom out: Bumble's international presence was previously limited to its status as the parent company of Badoo, a Russian social media network focused on romantic relationships, that has some popularity in Europe.

• Russia’s largest social media network VKontakte has come under Moscow’s control after Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov’s holding company USM sold 57.3% of VK’s voting shares to Sogaz, a state-run insurer, for an undisclosed sum. VK CEO Boris Dobrodeev said he’s stepping down a day after the deal was announced.
