• Volvo Cars plans to install laser-based sensors in all future models to cut serious accidents involving its vehicles by a fifth. The upcoming electric version of its flagship sport utility vehicle, called the EX90, will feature a lidar sensor that allows it to see “a black tire on a black road at 120 meters ahead, or a pedestrian at 250 meters” said Volvo boss Jim Rowan. via FT

• Jeep will launch four all-electric sport utility vehicles by the end of 2025 in a bid to lead in the electrification of off-road vehicles, the company announced on Thursday, despite the Stellantis brand's late start.
