From the bands and musicians I listen to, to the books I read.Okay, so I may have been grieving and exaggerating a bit—I haven't given up on it all, but let me put it this way: I was an avid Harry Potter reader during middle and high school. The books in the series was being continued to be published during those years. It was not easy to find English books either, you could only find them in one or two bookstores in Beyoğlu. I remember looking for the fifth book in the heat of July in Istiklal. I have read each book at least seven times. But then J.K. happened.&nbsp;You know, how can the bond I have established with the series and the characters could have stayed the same while Rowling spreads transphobia?Another name to be told is Morrissey. This issue is one of my biggest wounds, ever! In my high school years, I listened to Morrissey and The Smiths non-stop. While everyone was writing love songs, Morrissey used to talk about shyness and not belonging anywhere. It was a great gem for a teenager who had to suppress himself all the time because of his shyness. It reminded me that I wasn't alone, which I think is one of the most important things for a teenager. 🙃 As soon as I realized how fascist and racist he was, everything fell apart.
