It was one of those scorching hot days in Istanbul, maybe the hottest of the summer yet. Dozens of stray cats were lying sunstruck. Istanbulites know that this tells a lot about the weather in the city. We were cruising the streets of Beyoğlu in search of record shops with unique atmospheres, experiences, and collections. With wide glass windows and soft yellow interior lighting, Opus3a was impossible to pass by. We left Opus3a, cooled down and recharged for our second stop, KontraPlak.Positioned left of the Yeni Çarşı Street - a slope that leads to Goethe-Institut and Galatasaray High School - Kontra stood out with its contrasting red &amp; black logotype colors and the depth of its underground interior. Just across the Galata Tower and on the slope that leads down to Bankalar Street, Mr. Frog's record store popped up with its playful frog logo, soothing green floors, and spacey interior.
