Zoom out: The UAE aims to be one of the world’s leading suppliers of hydrogen, though it’s unlikely to be able to export significant volumes before the end of this decade.

• Germany opposed a European Commission draft bill to deem nuclear energy a sustainable source in the path to go green, noting that long-run byproducts of nuclear plants accumulated in nuclear waste over time. Looking ahead: Berlin championed declaring natural gas a temporarily sustainable response in the transition to clean energy on the grounds that it could reduce emissions in the transition period and "complement rather than displace renewables."
