• EU countries agreed to raise their climate change target to be more ambitious, as the bloc attempts to rally ambition among major emitters ahead of this year's UN climate talks in Egypt. EU's climate ministers also agreed to support putting "loss and damage" on the agenda for the COP27 gathering, which is a compensation demanded by developing countries for the damage that climate change-fueled natural disasters are inflicting on the world's poorest.
