• North Korea fired two ballistic missiles from north of its capital, Pyongyang, about two hours after US Vice President Kamala Harris visited the demilitarized zone between South and North Korea. The launches followed three other short-range missiles that were fired last week, which were the first ones of the sort since June. During her visit, Harris called the North “a brutal dictatorship” and said that the US commitment to South Korea’s defense is “ironclad.”
