• UN experts reported that North Korea is stealing millions of dollars from financial institutions and cryptocurrency firms and using them as an important source for its nuclear and missile programs. The panel said that these cyberattacks were conducted through phishing lures, malware and other advanced social engineering tools to take the funds out of the organizations.

• Ukraine said that Russia was likely behind the cyberattack on almost 70 government websites last week, days after NATO turned down insistent requests from Moscow to bar ex-Soviet states’ recruitment to the alliance, a move viewed to be geared most urgently at Kyiv. The anatomy of the attack: Microsoft confirmed that destructive malware was involved in the attack and that the program was “designed to render targeted devices inoperable.”
