• The UK’s Online Safety Bill no longer requires influential social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok to remove "legal but harmful" content. Instead, the tech giants will have to give users more control to filter posts that they don’t want to see. Critics of the section that was removed from the bill said it posed a risk to free speech. On the other hand, the change was criticized as a "major weakening" of the proposed legislation.

• Elon Musk filed an appeal to a judge's refusal to end his 2018 agreement requiring a Tesla lawyer to vet some of his posts on Twitter, signed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As Musk will now ask the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan to overturn the previous decision, he accuses the SEC of undermining his constitutional right to free speech by requiring vetting of his social media posts.

• Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk acquired a 9.2% stake in Twitter for $2.89 billion (€2,63bn), becoming one of the company's largest shareholders days after he protested that Twitter was limiting free speech and hinted that maybe "a new platform" is needed. Twitter shares closed up 27.12% on Monday following Musk's announcement.
